ESnet (Energy Sciences Network) is proud to announce the availability
of iperf 3.7. This release adds a long-requested simultaneous
bidirectional test capability, enabled using the --bidir flag.
Timekeeping now uses the clock_gettime(3) interface. Several
improvements were made to the libiperf APIs. Finally a number of bugs
have been fixed, and minor enhnacements made. More information can be
found in the release notes, which can now be found in the RELNOTES.md
file in the iperf3 distribution.
iperf 3.7 should be fully backward-compatible with prior iperf3
releases, that is, iperf 3.7 clients and servers should interoperate
correctly with all 3.x clients and servers. Note however that users
running iperf 3.7 with the bwctl utility (perhaps as a part of a
perfSONAR 3.x installation) need to ensure they are using bwctl
version 1.6.3 or newer.
iperf3 is a tool for measuring the maximum TCP, UDP, and SCTP
throughput along a path, allowing for the tuning of various parameters
and reporting measurements such as throughput, jitter, and datagram
packet loss. It is fully supported on Linux, FreeBSD, and macOS. It
may run on other platforms as well, although it has not received the
same attention and testing. Note that iperf3 is not compatible with,
and will not interoperate with, version 2 or earlier of iperf.
