Hi
I'm a perfSONAR newbie, working towards setting up a mesh of four nodes and
a measurement archive.
The nodes are meant to become 'public' at a later stage, but for now I just
want to have the setup running, to learn how everything works.
At this point I'm still not sure which questions to ask, but I wanted to
offer up one bit of info that I came across.
The nodes are all CentOS 7, with the 'perfsonar-testpoint' package.
Mesh is configured (json built and available to the nodes) and the nodes
seem to be (trying to) run the tests defined.
In /var/log/messages I would see:
Aug 4 09:44:21 dk-ore-pstp01 powstream[31833]:
OWPControlOpen([fi-csc-pstp01-mi1.nordu.net]:861): Couldn't open 'control'
connection to server: No route to host
Now, I *know* the routing works, so this had me scratching my head for a
while, until I decided that the logged message was 'wrong'.
As it turns out, the firewall on fi-csc-pstp01 was dropping the traffic. As
soon as I ran the following (to allow access from our prefix) the entries in
/var/log/messages ceased:
[jac@fi-csc-pstp01 ~]$ sudo firewall-cmd --add-rich-rule 'rule family="ipv4"
source address="109.105.96.0/19" service name="owamp-control" accept'
success
Now, I *think* this classifies as a bug, because the logged info is actively
misleading. But it's going to be a while before I'd be able to identify
which component to report the bug against.
So this is basically just an attempt to make this bit of info available.
Maybe, actually, a couple of pointers on how to submit bug reports?
