ESnet (Energy Sciences Network) is proud to announce iperf 3.2. This
comes one year and eight months after iperf 3.1 (during the
intervening time there were seven bugfix 3.1.x releases).

iperf 3.2 adds a number of new features, including an optional
authentication system and a new --dscp option for setting the DSCP
value in test packets. This version also brings in a number of fixes
and improvements in various areas, particularly computing and printing
statistics at the end of a test. Sending of UDP test data is now
smoother and can be tuned. The RELEASE_NOTES file in the source
distribution contains a more comprehensive list of the various
changes. Note that iperf-3.2 includes all of the bugfixes and
improvements contained in 3.1.x series of releases.

iperf 3.2 should be fully backward-compatible with iperf 3.1 and iperf
3.0, that is, iperf 3.2 clients and servers should interoperate
correctly with all 3.1 and 3.0 clients and servers. Note however that
users running iperf 3.2 with the bwctl utility (perhaps as a part of a
perfSONAR 3.x installation) need to ensure they are using bwctl
version 1.6.3 or newer.

iperf3 is a tool for measuring the maximum TCP, UDP, and SCTP throughput
along a path, allowing for the tuning of various parameters and
reporting measurements such as throughput, jitter, and datagram packet
loss. It is fully supported on Linux, FreeBSD, and macOS. It may
run on other platforms as well, although it has not received the same
attention and testing. Note that iperf3 is not compatible with, and
will not interoperate with, version 2 or earlier of iperf.
