HI Brian, this may well explain why we see this issue on our IPv6 host. Our IPv4 hosts should not have this issue as we (should) have our latency and bandwidth test on dfferent boxes. We do however have bwctl enabled on both boxes.
I will make sure bwctl service isn’t running on our latency box ( lcgps01.gridpp.rl.ac.uk ). Thanks Brian From: Brian Tierney [mailto:]
We've seen this on hosts where iperf3 and owamp are running on the same NIC, which looks to be the case on your host. iperf3 can take over the NIC, and case local loss. We recommend running iperf3 and owamp on separate NICs. (or separate hosts). Analysis leads us to believe that this is a problem with the setup of our host rather than a network issue. ( happens on both IPv4 and separate ipv6 infrastructure. It effects measurements
both LAN and WAN measurements.) The attached plots show some of the effected links. (This signal was a lot clearer last week buth we have had some extra packetloss this week creating background losses to this signal.
Has anyone see a similar effect before? Brian
