Hello all,

New web100 kernel packages have been added to the repository and are now available. A "yum update kernel" will install these new packages, or your host may already have them if automatic updates are enabled. Please note that the machine must be rebooted after this upgrade for these patches to take effect.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or problems with this update.

Thanks,
The perfSONAR Team

Hello all,

Red Hat has released a new version of the kernel for EL6. Details are posted here: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-2636.html

A 'yum update' may give you a new non-web100 kernel and therefore break access to NDT/NPAD. Consult our FAQ for more info: http://www.perfsonar.net/about/faq/#Q25

Our read of the CVE does not find any issue of concern specific to the toolkit. The issues are primarily local exploits / bugs related to virtualized environments and NFS filesystems, neither of which pS recommends or uses by default. If you are in doubt about your kernel, feel free to review the CVE,  upgrade to the latest version, and forgo NDT/NPAD support for the time being.  We are in the process of building and testing a new kernel, and will alert you when we have our web100 patched version available. We'll try to have it ready as soon as possible.

Thanks,
The perfSONAR Team
