I can answer for deb package.
For 3.0 we were downloading the perfSONAR edition of Tomcat package and then installed with dpkg. So in order to remove it one can use:
$sudo dpkg -P perfsonar-tomcat
and make sure to remove (I'm not sure it is removed automatically):
$sudo rm /etc/init.d/perfsonar-tomcat
