Nicolas;
1.1 Schema section:
- You mention "document class". What does this term means? All the document related to schema (class = group)?
Yes. We can find another name if this bothers anyone.
- What is the publishable standard? It is undefined. I sit the "OGF Base Schema document"?
Yes.
- Who is responsible for the maintenance of the "publishable standard"?
Martin is the primary author and maintainer.
1.1.1 OGF Base Schema Document
The description provides what it will be used for but not what it will contain. My questions below aims at getting a better understanding of what this document does.
- Is the following the objective of the document:
"This document
• describes why the schema is as it is, what are the building blocs (data and metadata and how they relate to each other) and
• Must specify the relationships/combination between the blocks (data metadata) described with the syntax (RNC) (e.g. you need at least one metadata, etc)
• Describes what is the relationship/difference between the OGF NM-WG and the perfSONAR schema. "
The first two are correct, the 3rd is needs some work. Since this is an OGF document encompassing work from many individuals and projects (not just perfSONAR) it will talk only about the NM-WG portions of the schema that perfSONAR uses. perfSONAR specific schema instances (such as service schema, or data specific schema) will be talked about in the profile documents and will reference this original work to eliminate the need to discuss the basics such as metadata/data seperation, etc.
Martin can answer specific questions with regards to the objectives when you see him in person. I apologize if the small writeup was not enough, but it was my quick attempt to get a basic description on the wiki before the meeting.
- Have you got an example for such document (it is a little bit abstract)
https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/docman/do/downloadDocument/projects.nm-wg/docman.root.working_drafts/doc15119
- "Details regarding specific aspects of the schema will not be available" means that no semantics and no information related to an eventType will be given here. Correct?
There will be some semantics related to the basics that all instances will require, but not many. This work will be very high level (not really a 'developer oriented' document), but I suppose the possibility exists to cite it in a more detailed work that can be used in the pS community.
There will not be mention of specific eventTypes (that is what the profile documents will be used for).
- Is it related to the nmbase.rnc?
See example, but yes it will contain references to this where applicable.
1.1.3 Profile Document on Schema extension
- Should the profile the meaning, the values, the value ranges and unit of elements/parameters?
(the semantics or is it part of the individual service documents).
E.g. the time is represented as an unix timestamp and the value is an integer representing the elapsed time in seconds since, etc. The time can also be expressed in YYYY-MM-DD-HH-SS where ...
Yes. Think of the profile documents as being more verbose commentary that goes with am RNC schema instance (or instances).
