Hi Loukik,Martin, I am glad to hear this as I have similar thoughts. I am hesitating to make such changes because I didn't want to 'muddy the waters' at this time as many developments use this folder. Our next step is restructuring the 'doc' directory and this is where we can already make the changes as we need as nobody seems to be using this folder. What do you think?
If you recently had a look at the schema directory under perfSONAR, you might agree with me that it needs re-structuring. I will be re-structuring the 'sonar' directory part of it shortly.
I agree that it needs work!
The issues that I will fix are:
* rename 'sonar' directory name to 'perfsonar' directory
* move example instances of rrd ma to a dedicated directory called 'rrdTypeMA'
* update example instances of rrd ma (they are not very accurate at the moment)
This sounds good to me. We might also think of a hierarchy
in which an MA directory has RRD and SQL dircectories, etc.
This might also give us a convenient place to put MA examples
that aren't tied to a particular type.
I think all these changes are necessary without any doubt. But I'd rather vote not to make too much of them now when we are very close the next release. It may bring additional burden for the developers which have tight time now. Although it is necessary we may clean-up all those docs and directories afterwards.
umm..the only change made so far is to rename schemas/example-instances/sonar to schemas/example-instances/perfSONAR and to create a rrdTypeMA directory underneath it.
I can roll back if this is not welcome at this point in time (It should have very minimal effect to be honest). Since changes are in trunk, it will affect developers who do not have a STABLE branch for their service yet. I think that would be LS and CLMP. I spoke to Guilherme earlier on and he was happy to make changes because for him its just one line in an ant target.
About the /doc directory, it won't affect anybody as nobody uses it.
regards,
Loukik.
