Hello All,

We now have the Debian/Ubuntu 4.2.0 beta packages available to you for testing.  Instructions to do that are posted at http://docs.perfsonar.net/release_candidates/4.2.0/install_rcs.html#testing-debian-installation

We are now providing builds for 6 different architectures: i386, amd64, armel, armhf, arm64 and ppc64el.  We particularly welcome installation and testing reports for the new one: PPC64.

Please note that version 4.2.0 of perfSONAR will not support Debian 8 nor Ubuntu 14.  These distributions are quite old and near EOL by their vendors.  Please refer to their respective upgrade documentation.  Meanwhile, if you're running perfSONAR 4.1 on Debian 8 or Ubuntu 14 we recommend you to switch your apt sources to a strict perfsonar-4.1 release repository.  See instructions at http://docs.perfsonar.net/release_candidates/4.2.0/install_debian.html#keeping-4-1-x-on-debian-8-and-ubuntu-14

The first beta of the next major version of perfSONAR 4.2.0 is now available. This is not a final release and should not be put on production systems. We are making it available for wider testing to help get it ready for a final release in the near future. A few highlights include:

- A new pScheduler disk-to-disk test with support for a GridFTP and curl tool

- pSConfig Web Administrator (PWA) RPMS

- Support for perfSONAR Ansible roles

- Support for task priorities in pScheduler

- End of BWCTL backward compatibility support in pScheduler

Instructions for configuring your host to use the beta can be found here: http://docs.perfsonar.net/install_rcs.html. Note that the Debian packages are not quite yet available but will be soon. The RPMs and Toolkit ISOs are ready for testing though and details are at the link. If you have a dedicated tester that permanently points at staging, it may have already updated if it is running auto-updates.
