Hi Chris;

2 things.

1) The new ISO image should have NDT ver 3.4.1 installed. Please verify this by running the command "/usr/local/sbin/web100srv -h" Send me the output of this command. 3.4.1 should handle the protocol error properly, if it doesn't I would be interested in learning why.

2) IPv6 support should be a loadable module. Check this by running the /sbin/lsmod command. You should be able to disable the v6 stack by removing this module (/sbin/rmmod ipv6). You should also verify that the interface doesn't have a v6 address (/sbin/ifconfig -a). You might need to stop/start the network and you may need to modify the network config file, to get the v6 addresses dropped.

Can you send me a tcpdump file showing this behavior?

Thanks;
Rich

Rich,

The development ISO still gives protocol error with the --ipv4 (also
the -4, I tried both) args to the web100srv.

Would it be possible to get an ISO that has IPV6 disabled at the
kernel level to try that (I don't know if that would make any
difference or not, I'm grasping at straws).

Thanks for the assistance!!!!!

Chris

Hi Chris;

There is some kind of bug in the web100 library code that is
periodically failing. It may help to debug this if you tell me
what kind of HW you are using. In the mean time you can try
running my development ISO image. You can download it from http:// people.internet2.edu/~rcarlson/ndt-files/NPtoolkit_v1.8-iptables.iso

Let me know what happens.

Hello,

I'm getting the Protocol Error during the looking for Middleboxes on
NDT using the latest NPtoolkit ISO.

I have edited the /etc/init.d/ndt file and tried both -4 and --ipv4
for the parameters for web100srv process (and have confirmed the
web100srv process running with those). Both tries I get the same
error.

The web100srv.oog shows:

Received SIGALRM signal: terminating active web100srv process [3489]
[Middlebox test]

Any ideas?

Also, it looks like my message keeps getting bounced back from the
