General Comment:
This doesn't seem to make sense as to why it works. If tmpstr read the  
filename, why is it <5 characters? If it is <5 characters, and that's a  
problem, I'd think that it's a problem from the tracing process sending it  
bogus data, and that's what needs fixed.
