On Tuesday 11/19 from 9:30-12:30 Eastern, the National Park Service, the Internet2 K20 Initiative, and Internet2 member organizations across the country are partnering to deliver a Dedication Day ceremony marking the 150th Anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address live over Internet2 to over 75,000 colleges and universities, K-12 schools, public libraries, and museums nationwide.  The entire event will be web-streamed live by MAGPI at the following URL: http://video.magpi.net/videos/.   The stream will start at 9:30am EST.  This program is part of the larger K20 Initiative sponsored Presidential Primary Source Project (PPSP).

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian James McPherson will speak at the event, which also feature Sally Jewell, Secretary of the Interior, Governor of Pennsylvania Tom Corbett, a reading of the Gettysburg Address by Lincoln portrayer James Getty, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will administer the Oath of Allegiance to sixteen new citizens.

Following the official ceremony, seven K-12 schools and public libraries from around the country will connect with park rangers from Gettysburg National Military Park over interactive videoconferencing to discuss the following three themes:  the aftermath of the battle of Gettysburg; myths surrounding Lincoln's visit to Gettysburg in 1863; and the meaning of the Gettysburg Address, then and now. This interactive portion of the program is part of the larger Presidential Primary Sources Project (PPSP) sponsored by the Internet2 K20 Initiative, U.S. Presidential Libraries and Museums, and the National Park Service.
