No, there is no active work on it. Personally I've been considering just dropping planned support for it all together. Sun recently announced the EoL of Java 5 (Oct. 09) and I'm definitely going to support 1.4 after that.

You can run retroweaver (or any other back-porting translation tool) yourself. If it's critical I would suggest doing that. That way you can then submit bugs on all the 1.5-only code was accidentally incorporated.

I know you mentioned you are not sure about timing right now, but I wanted to get a few thoughts anyway. We were planning on going live with an openSAML 2.1 solution in early June 08. Unfortunately, our environment currently only supports the 1.4 JDK so we are at somewhat of a roadblock. Do you know if a 1.4 binary is actively being worked on and/or what is the feasibility that the Retroweaver issue will be resolved within the next few weeks? Is it still possible to build these binaries under Ant and use Retroweaver in that case?

I don't have a timeline at the moment, but the background was that we recently switched to a Maven-based build process, from an An-based one, and as far as I understand it, Maven doesn't play well with the tool we were using to generate 1.4 binaries, called Retroweaver.

First off, just wanted to say great job on the openSAML 2.1 release. I
have been able to use the API to create a SAML 1.1 Post Profile solution, when other products came up short. I currently have it working under JDK 1.5, but I really need this to run under JDK 1.4. Can you provide any timings on when that port will be available. I saw mention on the site that "1.4 build are currently disabled, but will return shortly". Thanks again, Kurt
