You're probably very safe in using the release candidate that was jut 
made available.  The API is frozen and so far our testers haven't found 
any bugs.  I imagine the final release, which will be timed with the 
final release of Shibboleth, will be in about a month (subject to any 
major bugs that may be found, other time constraints, and the like).
