Hi All;

Quick update on my actions from last time.

1) Identify communities to approach

Attached is a document that outlines the scientific communities that 
Internet2 has worked with in the past.  We still maintains ties to 
technical staff and in many cases scientists within each but I have not 
done any reaching out yet.  For today the group should discuss which of 
these communities would be of interest, and I can start the process of 
feeling around for the specific PIs to identify for the surveys.

A questions I had as I was doing this exercise is more domain specific. 
 The list of categories on the wiki was helpful, but not being present 
for the early discussions within this group I will need some insider 
knowledge on what the goals are for specific items.  Ex: 'GIS' data was 
mentioned, and I have some contacts that may fit this need, but it would 
help to know what specific purpose the GIS data would serve.  Would the 
focus be on the people who are collecting the data and making it 
available, or more for groups that are using the raw data to do 
interesting things?  The same question can be applied to other groups.

2) International Science

Our International coordination is in transition right now, Ana Preston 
(some of you may know her) will be taking over the majority of this roll 
in addition to some other things.  She and her staff will be happy to 
help if there are needs in this area.  Her specific suggestion was 
preparing some sort of communication that can be sent to international 
networking partners to pass along to scientists they work with.

3) Survey Tools

I think relayed this already, but Internet2 has an account on 
SurveyMonkey that is available for groups to use.  If the google doc 
solution works, this is moot.
