Just a friendly reminder that there will be a LIVE WEBSTREAM today of "The CIvil War: Our State's Contribution to the War and the War's Effects on Our State" videoconference event taking place today Wednesday May 16th from 9:10am - 3:00pm EDT. The Civil War: Our State's Contribution to the War and the War's Effects on Our State Date: Wednesday, May 16, 2012 Time: 9:10 AM EDT - 3:00 PM EDT Target Audience: Students in grades 5-12 Cost: FREE! TO VIEW THE LIVE WEBSTREAM: Go to: http://video.magpi.net/videos/ and click on "LIve Videos". Tips for viewing the LIVE WEBSTREAM: If you are behind a firewall and having problems viewing the webstream you may need to open port 1935 TCP for video.magpi.net to work properly. If you continue to have problems with the webstream, please contact your firewall administrator. (Please note, if/when sites are sending content you may need to change your local view on the stream. You may do this by selecting the middle button on the bottom right of the webstream window to toggle through different views and change what you are seeing in the main window. This will need to happen for each local viewer of the stream.) Schools around the country are invited to participate in this exciting all day videoconference event focusing on The Civil War and the impact and contributions of various states across the nation. This videoconference will bring together middle and high school students across the country to present to each other about their state's unique contribution to The Civil War and the war's effects on their state. In addition to presentations from schools representing states across the country, there will also be four presentations from museums including: The Mariner's Museum presenting "Clash of Armor: The Battle Between the Monitor and Virginia;" The Library of Congress presenting "Soldiers, Spies, Nurses During The Civil War;" Virginia Historical Society; and the Smithsonian American Museum of Art presenting "The Civil War and American Art".
