For those of you seeking inspiration (or affirmation) on the power of interactive videoconferencing programming in public libraries and schools, please tune into the live stream of this very special event TODAY Friday May 4, 2012 from 3-4pm EDT. This event is also special in that it was born out of a partnership between the not-for-profit R&E networking community, the schools and libraries they serve, and the Library of Congress. The possibilities for future programming collaborations with our nation's "national treasures" are virtually endless. Here's to many more to come!
Best,
James
Behind the Scenes with the Poet Laureate
Philip Levine, the 18th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry at the Library of Congress, will connect with high schools and public libraries via video conference over Internet2 to read and discuss three of his poems: “Our Valley,” “The Simple Truth,” and “What Work Is.” The reading and discussion will be followed by an extended question and answer period with video conference participants.

Viewing the Event: This event will be streamed live on the Web courtesy of MAGPI, the Mid-Atlantic Gigapop in Philadelphia for Internet2. The live video feed will be available at http://video.magpi.net/videos/ on the day of the event and archived for on demand viewing. Send in questions via twitter using hashtag #lcpoetry.
This event is brought to you by the Library of Congress in partnership with the Internet2 K20 Initiative and MAGPI.
