InCommon Federation To Support Latest Shibboleth Software Release

Nationwide Trust Network To Provide Support and Services for  
Shibboleth 1.3

Ann Arbor, MI - August 18, 2005 - InCommon(R) today announced
that it now supports the latest version of the Shibboleth standards- 
based
federated single sign-on and attribute exchange system, Shibboleth(R)  
1.3.

 InCommon, which utilizes the Shibboleth open source software, has
created a shared trust framework for participating organizations to make
attribute-based decisions when determining access privileges to
protected online resources. Shibboleth 1.3 metadata is SAML 2.0  
compliant
enabling interoperability with other Shibboleth and SAML 2.0 based
federations in the future. InCommon will also maintain compatibility
with Shibboleth software versions 1.2 and 1.1.

"Shibboleth 1.3 is a major stepping stone for participants. By
implementing this latest version, participants will lay the groundwork
for Shibboleth 2.0, " said John Krienke, InCommon Operations  Manager.
