GLIMMERGLASS JOINS INTERNET2 NETWORKING CONSORTIUM

Glimmerglass to Supply Intelligent Optical Switches and Expertise for
Development/ Testing of Next Generation, High Performance, Scalable Networks

Hayward, CA./Ann Arbor, MI August 22, 2005 – Glimmerglass, a pioneer of automated fiber management, today announced its formal collaboration with Internet2, the foremost U.S. advanced networking consortium led by the research and higher education community.

As an Internet2 member and corporate sponsor, Glimmerglass will serve on the design and corporate advisory teams for Internet2’s Hybrid Optical Packet Infrastructure (HOPI) project. The HOPI project is building a national network testbed to examine the requirements and performance of scalable next generation networks that combine the best of packet and optical technologies.

Direct participation with advanced development communities such as Internet2 enables Glimmerglass to contribute to emerging standards for advanced networks as well as learn firsthand about the evolving infrastructure requirements. In turn, Glimmerglass will contribute both expertise and optical switch solutions to this collaborative community.

“We’re delighted to collaborate with this esteemed community,” said Bill Banyai, CTO at Glimmerglass. “Internet2’s work to develop an IP over Optical national network test bed is vital to the development of a next generation Internet. We are excited be a significant contributor.”

“The active participation in Internet2 by innovative companies with significant technology is important,” said Jill Arnold, director of member and partner relations at Internet2. “We value the Glimmerglass perspective on Intelligent Optical Switching and look forward to the fruits of this ongoing collaboration.”
