When we did alumni forwarding, it was in-house, so I don't have a vendor recommendation. Just a "look ahead" story though -- last year we onboarded a substantial number of alumni, away from forwarding, into real mailboxes. We felt we had to as part of our (now
completed) DMARC rollout -- we didn't want the alumni subdomain unprotected, so we felt that something, somewhere, had to be able to DKIM sign for them.
(Yes, this operation directly opposes storage reduction, but...security first.)
I've heard of many institutions reducing alumni email service -- but if you are committed to keeping it, you might want to think about its email authentication (or making it "one-way only" with SPF -all etc.).

Subject: Alumni 3rd Party Forwarding Services?
Hi All,
Dana Voss recommended I reach out to this group with my question about alumni forwarding tools. Just like many of you, we want to limit access to Google for our Alumni. Do you have any recommendations on vendors we can reach out to about email forwarding services? We may attempt to do this in-house, but would also like to explore 3rd party options. Any guidance you can provide would be really helpful!
Thank you!
Sue
