When you say you don’t support ms sql - that’s as the grouper DB. You can access ms sql for use by a loader job, for example, if that happens to be a source of data.    Been there, done that. 

Ooh, that's a good point.  My HR and SIS (Ellucian Colleague) run on MSSQL, which is a pretty common back-end for Colleague.  I've been assuming there wouldn't be too much friction between Grouper and Colleague.  I'd be interested in hearing from other Colleague (MSSQL) schools with Grouper experience.
