It's the latest installer that is used, from 
https://software.internet2.edu/grouper/release/2.4.0/grouper.installer-2.4.0.tar.gz.
As for PSP, it has proven reliable and I'd rather keep it for a while until I 
have more time and not change everything at once:
the priority is the new UI, and changing the syncing backend is not critical.

So why the need to convert to the PSPNG?
- Do you mean that the latest PSP is incompatible with 2.4.0? In what way, 
from what patch number?
- or is it just that it's not maintained anymore (hence not handled in the 
2.4.0 installer), but still working properly with 2.4.0?
  (i.e. upgrading just the API part, from an installation at level 2.3.0 with 
the latest PSP patches, to 2.4.0, results in a workable installation wrt 
syncing)


In the mean time I succeeded in upgrading PSP with the 2.4.0 installer:
The psp archive and two psp patches from 
https://software.internet2.edu/grouper/release/2.3.0/grouper.all-2.3.0.tar.gz 
were extracted in the 2.4.0 tarballs directory,
the appropriated (trial and error process) directories and properties files 
with "2.3.0" in their names were renamed with "2.4.0",
a patch dependency property was also renamed.
Then the installer did upgrade PSP with 2.3.0 jars and patched it.
And for the little I have tested, the syncing in the loader daemon works OK 
(no more "Stopwatch already started" errors.)
