sorry for the delayed reply…

yes, i understand all this… the issue is I am using Google Dir Sync which, when it creates the group, creates them with emailPermission of owner, member, domain.  There is nothing in google dir sync which allows one to establish a default permission of new groups.  This means custom code needs to be written (cuz the publicly available tools don't seem to allow for manipulating these permissions either).  Hence my desire to have something grouper-ish do this.

Seems to me that when using the Google APIs:

(1) a newly created Google group has no members or owner; you have to add them through a separate API call
(2) a new Google group can be created with an "emailPermission" of owner member domain anyone, so one
could safely set "owner" or "member" to meet your criteria

I looked in the archives regarding Grouper and managing Google Groups.  I see Washington and Brown have written code to do this.  Brown appears to be in a position to make their code available - but I don't see anything saying it was done.

I'd like to first understand the state of the code from Brown and Washington - is your code available some place?

Secondly, googledirsync creates groups from ldap.  Except, these groups are with a default permission of anyone in the group and in the domain can send email to the group.  I'd like to get control over who can send email to the group and default to nobody.  Is this possible and have Brown/Washington or anyone else done this?

Many thanks!
