There are workarounds depending on how the memberships are accessed, and your
suggestion could help, though if you are using WS/UI you would still see the
memberships...

Is a possible solution in the mean time to exclude those particular
groups from the provisioning config (PSP, ChangeLogConsumer,...) ?
