Thanks Chris!

We use Zabbix for monitoring and general data collection. If/when we go full
production with Grouper, hopefully we can get develop something that will
illustrate how Grouper data relates to actual storage - and then provide
some example metrics.

I removed the quick start link.

About sizing, Im not sure there is anything. My gut feel is that you need a
few kB for each membership. So if you have a million memberships, you need a
few gigs. Of course it depends on you group to membership ratio, your use of
attributes/permissions, how much space the point in time tables you require
(how much shurn you have had and how long you keep those records), etc.

I would start out with a certain size, monitor it, and grow accordingly.

Thanks,
Chris

Subject: [grouper-users] 2.1 QuickStart link; database sizing

Hi all,

About to start playing with Grouper. I see from a bit of archive digging that
the QuickStart has been deprecated. Can that be reflected on this page:

http://www.internet2.edu/grouper/software.html

..as this link is broken:

http://www.internet2.edu/grouper/release/2.1.0/grouper.quickstart-2.1.0.tar.gz

Also, are there any database sizing guidelines?

Thanks!

Doug Baker
