First off, ant is just a zip.  You can unzip 1.7 to some directory, set the ANT_HOME to the 1.7 dir, and put ANT_HOME/bin in the front of your path (locally for your shell session), and you can build grouper without affecting anything else on the box (i.e. other java projects will still see ant 1.6.5).

Second, I think we decided WS and UI are difficult to do a binary since you generally have to make changes and make a war.  So if you need ant to do that, it might as well compile stuff and do everything else as well…

Thanks Scott for the comment regarding the wiki - I've made changes to the documentation to make it 'cleaner' and easier to maintain, perhaps I should revisit those changes.

Unfortunately it is going to be difficult for me to get ant
1.7 deployed within my project for use when building the
Grouper UI

Hey Chris, where's that binary UI ?
