I warned Erica earlier this week that we all waited until the last minute, so some sorting out and combining would be needed. She didn't seem surprised. 😀

Title: Thinking outside the container: choosing the right container platform to deploy TIER packages
Abstract:
Internet2's Trust and Identity in Education and Research (TIER) initiative is working to lower barriers to deploy standards-based identity and access management components for R&E organizations. Part of TIER's work is to distribute software components in easy-to-run Dockerized packages. But what do you do with the Docker package after you download it? The number of Docker platforms and orchestration suites available today can be overwhelming. Add to that the decision to run on-prem or in the cloud, and you can really get confused.
In this panel presentation, you'll hear about the experiences of four universities who have deployed TIER packages: their rationale, challenges, and lessons learned in adopting a container environment. Participants are encouraged to bring their own experiences and challenges to add to the discussion.

Hi all,
John, thanks for including me. I am in fact planning on attending TechEx and would love to participate in the panel.

I'm tossing Ryan Rumbaugh, from U Nebraska-Lincoln into this thread. He's deploying the TIER Grouper (and TIER Shib IdP) very soon. He's using a Jenkin's CI/CD pipeline.
I'm not sure if he's attending TechEx or not, but now he might have a good excuse to attend if he wasn't otherwise. (Sorry I didn't check with you beforehand, Ryan.) Otherwise, I could take his place on the panel (if you need to fill a seat). We should have one other client live by TechEx too using the TIER Grouper image and Jenkin's CI/CD delivery.

Agreed. Unless others think it unnecessary, I'll draft something shortly for a panel session. I'll include Michigan, Lafayette, and Illinois. Others want in? We can always add others later, too.

My sense is other schools who may be attending, but not part of CSP would be interested in panel discussion on Docker/TIER at the CAMP part of TechEx.
