Discussion Moving to Maven Q: Are we moving to Maven? A: Yes. On the next call,
Rob will report on what concrete steps are required for this.
CI Environment
Rob has discussed with Danno getting a server for the continuous integration/demo
environment. This will not be put in the VM yet. It will be a separate
physical box.
[AI] Rob will follow up with Danno on the server for the demo
Rob's Documentation https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Getting+Started+with+Grouper Rob reported that the next step in developing his Grouper book depends on getting the Quickstart going.
Q: What are your objectives for the Quickstart?
A: Currently, the Quickstart features the database and the UI to demo Grouper. Rob is adding another database instance to run a preconfigured Grouper loader. Also adding an LDAP directory. The idea is for the Quickstart to be able to show everything you would want to do with Grouper. Continuous Integration Environment is an element of the Quickstart. Wiki Update
SteveO is working on issues around the Grouper wiki. Wiki will be in read-only mode this weekend (Feb.19-20) due to a planned power out age this weekend.
Grouper 1.7
Grouper 1.7 is a release primarily for U. Penn. to be able to use external subjects. Chris has added a feature related to veto if not eligible by folder. Chris has added documentation in the wiki, but it is not always easily accessible from the top level pages. Chris often finds wiki pages by googling. Some restructuring of the wiki for easier navigation will be needed before release of Grouper 2.0. System Admin Page needs attention to reorder items listed there. Items are not alphabetical. Not sure the best way to organize the presentation. A table of contents or top-level index of some sort would be good. https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/Grouper/Grouper+-+Systems+Administration [AI] SteveO will remove "Grouper New" from the wiki labeling (done) Grouper 2.0
We are aiming to release Grouper 2.0 around 2011 SMM , though it may slip. SMM is a good time to work things out at last minute.
Chris notes that some of the new features in Grouper 2.0 create
difficulty for the unit tests. Chris has been fixing those
difficulties in the process of releasing Grouper 1.7.
Jira Items - Review of some older items [AI] (Jim) will take over GRP-400 "Connection Pooling with JNDISourceAdapter " and take next steps [AI] (Shilen) will handle GRP-29 Adding caching to "privs.NamingResolver#get()" methods. [AI] (Jim) will take over GRP-396 "Multiple Queries for the same subject" [AI] (TomZ) will close GRP-51 Grouper (DAOException when threads 'simultaneously' call MemberFinder.internal_findOrCreateBySubject,) since this will be done with hibernate logging. Shilen closed GRP-53, since that was done. Gary will close GRP-55, since this is done.
On GRP-66 from Cornell, the decision was to leave it as is. "Need to be able to flag groups as not allowed in composites and other restrictions for very large groups" GRP 71 "Add act as to UI to act as another user" was discussed. This would be nice to have in a UI context. Decision was to park this to be discussed with UI strategy after Grouper 2.0. Chris will indicate this in JIRA Next Call: Wed. 2-Mar-2011 Emily Eisbruch, Technology Transfer Analyst Internet2 office: +1-734-352-4996 | mobile +1-734-730-5749 Visit our website: www.internet2.edu Follow us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/internet2 Become a Fan on Facebook: www.internet2.edu/facebook |
