*Discussion* - Grouper 1.4.0 There remain several UI bugs that should be addressed before the Grouper 1.4.0 release. One of the most important is GRP-188: https://bugs.internet2.edu/jira/browse/GRP-188. Gary will look at the UI issues over the next week. - Security Shilen asked about the fact that there is a way to escalate from view privileges to read privileges. The group agreed that this is a design issue that should be documented. [AI] (TomB) will create a JIRA issue related to documenting security issues, such as view privilege potentially leading to read. - Release Schedule It was agreed that addressing remaining bugs in Grouper 1.4.0 RC1 should take about one week. It's not certain whether the official release will occur before or right after the Christmas holiday. TomZ asked if someplace will run the RC1 code in production mode prior to the release. Chris will be testing at U. Penn, where they have 150,000 memberships. [AI] (Chris, Shilen, TomZ and Gary) will run units test on various databases in preparation for the upcoming Grouper 1.4.0 release. - Documentation TomZ asked that everyone take a look at the documentation. He has tried to make it briefer and to remove references to older versions. - MySQL Key Length Error It is unclear what caused the MySQL key length error TomZ experienced on the Mac platform: Chris did not have this problem when using a different version of MySQL on a PC. Chris's googling this issue has indicated that it’s a bug that’s been fixed, yet it’s hard to figure out where it has and has not been fixed. [AI] (TomZ) will create a JIRA issue on the MySQL key length issue. - New Grouper Client Chris created a simple Java program to handle a Grouper interface through Grouper LDAP and web services. It was noted that there exist open-source LDAP clients that work on windows. Bert raised the issue of telling the client the set of trusted keys, of using a different SSL trusted route. [AI] (Bert) will send to Chris information on using a different SSL trusted route for the new Grouper client. [AI] (TomZ) will modify the software download page to reflect the new Grouper client. - Grouper 1.5 and LDAPPC The group discussed possible approaches to LDAPPC for Grouper 1.5, including:
Chris noted a possible relationship between LDAPPC and the Grouper loader. Is it reasonable to pull the schedule part of LDAPPC into the Grouper Loader in order to reduce the number of things for users to deploy and maintain? TomB mentioned the approach of freezing LDAPPC and forking it. TomZ wondered about getting Grouper into LDAP by means of NEXUS. Bob noted that SPML V2 is starting to become a provisioning standard. [AI] (TomZ) will continue to look into future of LDAPPC and develop options for directions. - Grouper 1.5.0 and other issues Audit capability in 1.5.0 will be saved for next call. Thanks to Chris for his proposal. [AI] (Chris) will create a proposal on adding attributes to various objects in Grouper. - Next Call The 24-Dec-08 Grouper call has been cancelled. Next Call: Wed., 7-Jan-09 at noon ET
(TomB will not be available, but he will designate another facilitator) |
