Loading a separate OS image onto the FDT server for each remote
researcher, and running that with root access, is maybe the best way to
understand what is being asked for.

In principle any account can be mapped. In practice, we would need to see a
very detailed use case for why anyone from another institution would need
root access to one of our servers.
