The auto-resizing that cake does apparently can't handle transparency.  I scaled the logo down to a height of 50px and capped it at 50px.  So long as whatever they put in isn't bigger than 50px, it will look fine.

 

More generally than red-blind, we need to consider the accessibility of the application out of the box. (In this particular case, I think it's OK since the button can still be found, it'll just look like the News | Support | etc links on the left.)

I think the button is already too big and red.  It obscures the notifications, which if you're not looking carefully, doesn't stand out.  

I like the swooshing of the menus and the notification. The My Account menu still falls off the side of the page for me (don't know if you've tried to fix that yet).

I wonder if the menus should stand out more... maybe make the borders darker?

I think it obviously looks like a menu and is fine.

 

Do you want to try updating the jquery UI color schema to match the new menus? It's sort of out of scope, but sort of justifiable. Not sure what specific changes I'm suggesting yet...

I think it does.  I think it should be visible but not a big red thing
in the corner.  There are also people who are red-blind and see red as
black.
