Obviously, this sort of thing happens, and I didn't mean to imply
it's not a problem that needs to be addressed. The real question becomes whether the system needs to handle it or whether administrator intervention and/or multiple accounts for one human is acceptable. Michael R. Gettes wrote: While I am aware of the "Michael Gettes" problem... and I appreciate Dan's perspective on this... researchers switching institutions is not such a rare case. It is a normal course of business. Whether or not this is a problem to solve now or later, to me, is moot... it just needs to be solved at some point before someone sufficiently important needs the ability. Knowing when that may be is NP-Complete. /mrg On Oct 14, 2010, at 3:15, Dan Pritts wrote:Internally at INternet2 we have dorked around with a very similar problem, which we usually refer to as the "Michael Gettes problem" as he stays an Internet2 member but moves from campus to campus. We finally decided it is such a rare case that we should try not to paint ourselves into any corners, but not concentrate on making a system flexible enough to solve this problem. Insert joke about the "Michael Gettes problem" here. On Oct 12, 2010, at 4:45 PM, Benn Oshrin wrote:This is the right idea, but do we have any real life examples?
