Greetings BaseCAMPers!

 

How was the first day of BaseCAMP? Hopefully, you met some fellow campers and have an overall sense of the InCommon Community and Identity and Access Management. Before we begin Day 2, , we want to share tips and information to help make your second day at BaseCAMP a success:

 

Canvas:

If you need a recap of what was discussed during our sessions today, you’ll find all of the slide decks loaded in Canvas. We’ll process and upload the videos as quickly as possible! 

 

As a reminder, resources, event schedules, and more can be found in Canvas as well, and we encourage you to click around so that you can become familiar with the content and layout.

 

Social Hours:

As a reminder, we will open up our CAMP Fire pits tomorrow morning at 11:00 am ET. This is a completely optional networking session. Bring your coffee or tea and say hello before we dive into the day’s program! More social time will also be available in the afternoon from 4:30 - 6:00 pm ET, just after our CAMP Fire sessions.

 

Scavenger Hunt:

Congratulations to our first winner Hans Gunter from Idaho State University! Join us in Slack tomorrow morning again at 11:30 am ET for your next list of camping essentials to search for. Like today, the first person to post a selfie in Slack with their 5 findings will win!

 

Tuesday’s Lineup:

Starting at 12:00 p.m. ET (11 am CT | 10 am MT | 9 am PT,) we will venture a little further into Identity and Access Management (IAM). CAMP counselor Kevin Morooney, Vice President for Trust and Identity and NET+ Services, will kick things off before we dive into the following topic areas:

1. DevOps Lightning Talk
2. InCommon Trusted Access Platform 101
3. Getting Started with DevOps
4. Identity Registry 101 and Identity Registry 201

 

As noted above, you’ll be able to join either Identity Registry 101 or the 201 session.  Having trouble deciding? No problem! Simply choose the session that best matches your current level of understanding/expertise, and you’ll have the opportunity to watch the recorded sessions for anything you missed at a later time. 101 sessions will provide the basics, while 201 sessions start to explore more advanced concepts.

 

We’ll be covering a lot during these sessions, so we highly encourage you to be present, ask questions, and share what is currently happening at your institution! We are all here to learn from each other and build the community, and your voice is an important part of this conference experience.

 

First Aid:

If you get lost or need assistance, please post a message in the Slack channel and someone will reply ASAP. This is also a great place to say hi, introduce yourself, and post thoughts about the conference.
