What version of IOS are people running on their Cisco SIP gateways? We're
running IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-J1S3-M), Version 12.2(11)T, RELEASE
SOFTWARE (fc1) . We've recently started having problems with our gateway crashing and suspect that it's time to upgrade!

That depends what you're doing with accounting. :-)

In general, 12.2(11)T is good because it brought in a lot of voice code from other streams that made things a lot more stable, although some of this is more relevant to SIP than H.323.

There's a nasty bug in 12.2(11)T where if you have the extended accounting turned on (which we like because it gives you QoS stats like packets dropped, jitter, etc, at the end of a call) it triggers an IOS bug relating to Radius packets over 1500 bytes in size, which leads to the router reloading usually between 30 to 60 seconds later.

That problem was fixed in 12.2(11)T2, but that introduced a new bug (for E1 PRI's, don't know if it exists in T1 PRI's) that caused ring-tone not to be generated for incoming calls. Your mileage here depends on your ISDN provider, depending on if they trust your ring-tone generation. If they don't, you won't have a problem. :-)

We recommend 12.2(13)T1 or higher, with the latest 12.2(15)T being preferable.

(We're running an engineering release based off 12.3(7)T in the AS5350 in our office that works around a problem where NAT turned on in a Group-Async interface triggers a CEF bug that causes voice looped through the PRI (ie, inbound call diverted to mobile) to suffer 95% packet loss inside the router.)

Just in case people are interested in the QoS stuff (we find it useful for call hop-off), this is what it looks like. You get two records, one for the VoIP leg and one for the POTS leg. The VoIP leg has the QoS information, and the POTS leg has the "charged-units=#" - hopefully your service provider feeds this back to your gateways so you can provide accurate live billing reports even for destinations you have no prior knowledge of cost for, again useful for recharging call hop-off to peer organisations.
