SIP doesn't require any sort of artificial testbed. It uses established
Internet mechanisms. Mostly, if you can enter SRV records in DNS,
have ntp and tftp available, you're ok. All you need to do is get
a commercially released product (e.g. CSPS), a couple of phones and
begin playing. You can even get a fairly good demo soft phone free from
www.hearme.com (3Com's choice) and avoid any possible expense.

If you want to do something useful in regard to SIP development,
you might consider either an XML application or take a look at the
SIMPLE group and see what you can do along the lines of IM.

BTW, has anyone done any testing with the SIP client in Windows XP beta?
