Ben Chinowsky (scribe) - Internet2

*Discussion*

The group discussed the state of PIC-related working groups. The VoIP WG (http://voip.internet2.edu/) has been very quiet
lately, though its mailing list has almost 300 subscribers. Ben T. described SIP.edu (http://www.internet2.edu/sip.edu/) as
"like a very healthy and vibrant SIG". PIC itself has about 120 subscribers. Candace noted that she's seen renewed interest
in the new PA module on the ser-users list. Ben T. suggested contacting I2IM to organize a brainstorming session on how PIC
should go forward with its XMPP efforts. Rodger suggested that PIC get back up to date on what SIP clients are available.
Windows Messenger 4.5 apparently doesn't follow the SIP standard closely enough for full interoperability, and no one has
heard much from Wave 3 lately.

Rodger noted a common pattern with large corporations' efforts to stamp out consumer IM: first they block it, then they get
complaints from people high up in the organization who were using it, then they either try to develop an approved system that
offers greater value, or relent and just let people use the consumer services.

Ben C. will not be on the April 6 call; Ben T. will take notes for Ben C. to write up.
