I have seen this and held one. My group is planning to use the N770 in
some of our work. I know some of the people in the product team. I
think it would be a good device to run a softphone on.

Subject: [wg-pic] Nokia 770 Anyone?
Has anyone in this group played with integrated communications apps on
the Nokia 770? The 770, which went on sale in the US today, is an
interesting device (see [1]). It has WiFi, Bluetooth, a web browser,
and a media player; it is not a cellphone, comes with no softphone, and
has no in-line microphone jack (though presumably a Bluetooth headset
could be made to work). It's Linux-based (source code and an SDK are
available) and several minutes of Google sleuthing reveals a few
softphones that have been tested on it ([2] [3]). Evidently, GAIM has
also been ported to run on the Nokia 770.
It's refreshing to see some innovative thinking about mobile devices.
Moreover, the Nokia 770 seems like it might be a good platform for
experiments in campus-enabled mobile communications. Thoughts?
