I was just perusing Erik Lagerway's blog [1], and discovered ineen
[2], his SIP-based answer to Skype.  Very interesting.

The client is eyeBeam hard-wired to the ineen service.  It's not wide
open 
(sip:
 failed), but currently peerings exist with
FWD, SIPphone, and Iptel.org.  Why not SIP.edu next!?

If anyone wants to test with me, my ineen number is 2010804.
