*Discussion*

Elliot Peele gave a short introduction to a semester-long project he's working
on at NC State, to implement SIMPLE on PhoneGaim (www.phonegaim.com) and make
it portable among different SIP proxies. They plan to test against SER among
others.

Bruce Gray noted that Xten is finding the PIC WG's feedback useful, and asked
how eyeBeam fits into the group's plans. Ben T. mentioned several possible
areas
of work:
- adding media types of particular use in the R&E environment --
e.g. high-quality video -- or IPv6.
- exposing automated presence information from PALS via eyeBeam.
- adding eyeBeam to the Internet2 Commons SIP service
(http://commons.internet2.edu/pilot.html).
Bruce noted that Xten has created its own XCAP server, called LiveEye, that
does
presence via updates to XCAP documents. [ACTION] Bruce will talk to Jamey
about
doing presence via XCAP. [ACTION] Bruce and Candace will dig deeper into PIC's
eyeBeam testing results. Bruce also noted that there's a lot of buzz lately
around presence in the enterprise. A Linux version of eyeBeam is now in beta;
contact Bruce
()
for more information.

[ACTION] Jeremy will try to get some people from JISC to join the March 17
call.

The group agreed to defer discussion of demo packaging to the March 17 call.
[ACTION] All will review Candace's Feb. 25 note to the list, subject "Presence
Package Requirements Update 022505 (2)", in preparation for further discussion
of the package, its cookbook, and associated services on the March 17 call.

All speakers for the Member Meeting session have been confirmed:
- David Lassner - overview
- Ben Teitelbaum - demo
- Henning Schulzrinne - elaboration on demo
- Candace Holman - PALS software distribution
We still need an MC. See
http://events.internet2.edu/2005/spring-mm/sessionDetails.cfm?session=1933&event=229
for the abstract and schedule info. Candace noted that she has a sizable
collection of use cases that could be discussed in the session. [ACTION] Ben
T.
will write a script for the Member Meeting demo, recruiting others to help as
necessary.
