This posting isn't directly on target for PIC but may interest
folks anyway. P2P SIP may not compete with proxy-based SIP so much as
complement it. See the use cases noted below. How do we blend the two?

I can provide many strong use cases than this where P2P sip is not just
a good to have option, but provides a preferable solution. For example,
a WPAN (wireless personal area networks) consisting of a number of
multi-media devices (mp3 players, cell phones, dvd players, PDAs etc.)
provides an ideal environment for P2P sip. P2P SIP is not just an
option but is required because a PAN does not necessarily have any
permanently available node to be designated as a sip registrar. Also,
PAN membership could be very dynamic depending upon a PAN User's
location.

Another use case is emergency responders at an incident scene. Think Fire
and Police folks at an isolated structure They may have connectivity to
each other, but not to any fixed infrastructure (tower). They MUST be able
to communicate in the absence of any pre existing infrastructure.
