*Discussion*
There was a short discussion of the problem of apparent Cisco non-support for
iLBC. [ACTION] Dennis will test the xlite iLBC codec with a Cisco gateway.
Most of the call was dedicated to a review of action items:
1. Joe and Jeremy will launch a PSTN gateway subgroup.
- It was agreed that this subgroup should concern itself with a) finding a
vendor to provide a gateway (as vs. the subgroup trying to build one itself),
b)
SER configuration, and c) testing with the carrier well ahead of time.
[ACTION]
Ben T. will contact vendors about providing a PSTN gateway. He may be able to
help with SER configuration as well.
2. All will review their assignments for Austin and recruit others to help
them.
- Still to do.
3. Joe will maintain a list of Austin demo goals and assignments on the PIC
web site.
- Still to do.
4. Joe will look into NIST SIP (http://www-x.antd.nist.gov/proj/iptel/).
- Still to do.
5. If he has time, Joe will analyze the statistics on portal traffic.
- Still to do (or not).
6. On a future PIC call, the group will discuss putting together a report
on experiences with the PIC trials so far.
- There is still strong interest in doing this, but not until after Austin, so
this item will be removed until then.
7. Larry will arrange a conference with the Cisco location-technologies
expert, bearing in mind that the PIC working group can't do NDA.
- Still to do.
8. Ben T. will seek support for SIP.edu click-to-dial directories at the
June 16 SIP.edu workshop.
- Not done, but Jiri has offered support via iptel's REFER-based click-to-dial
tool. It was noted that a different tool will be needed if we want to use
non-SIP hardphones in the kiosks. [ACTION] Dennis and Ben T. will pursue
click-to-dial support on the SIP.edu list. At the June 16 meeting, some people
from Stony Brook gave Ben T. got a good suggestion on how to do SIP.edu
metadirectories: create a DNS INFO record for the proxy and create XML schema
for everything we want to know about the SIP.edu domain. [ACTION] Ben T. will
work with the Stony Brook folks on a spec for SIP.edu metadirectories.
9. Ben T. will arrange regular contacts with vendors interested in
participating in the demo (new Internet2 member Avaya in particular).
- Avaya's Bruce Mazza was on the last call. Ben T. has talked to the people
behind x10 about participating in the Austin demo. [ACTION] Ben T. will follow
up with the x10 folks on Austin participation.
10. All will send Ben T. any information they have on vendors interested in
participating in the demo.
- Ongoing.
11. Jeremy will formally register the PIC demo with the Austin meeting
planners, noting its special character as one of an ongoing series, and as
something that's woven into the meeting as whole.
- Done.
12. Ben T. will get contacts for the buildout for Austin, and in particular
find out when information on the physical layout of the meeting will be
available.
- Still to do.
13. Jeremy will send the people on this call an Internet2 draft document on
next steps for RTC; all will send comments to him (NOT to the author of the
document).
- Done.
14. Joe will send Ben T. specifics on the problem he's having with mail
missing
from the archive; Ben T. will take this up with the mail admin.
- Ben T. never heard from Joe, so he's assuming this was resolved.
