The skiffs/ipaqs are using standard 802.11 cards, but the cards are
being put in monitor mode. That is, they do not associate with any
access point, so they receive all packets. Or maybe just all packets on
a channel and they hop channels periodically. The skiffs collect mac
address, signal strength, and a packet fingerprint and send that back to
a server that correlates the per-device per-packet signal strength data.

Rather than relying on another administrator dependence (dns SRV record
pointing to SIP proxy), the clients will read the name or IP address of
the SIP proxy from their configuration files. For any clients modified
to fetch location/calendar data, they will similarly find the name of
the location server in their configuration files. sipc will be modified
in this way, but no one from wave3 was on the call so we don't know
about that.

There will also be a web interface for the location/calendar data, so
users without modified clients will be able to participate in that part
of the demo.
