  Since there are cases where the unicast and multicast route tables are not 
congruent there are cases where BGP routes with multicast SAFI could still be 
needed.

  For example NORDUnet sends traffic destined to NDSU and other Internet2 
members via Hurricane electric rather than via Internet2.  

  So if a host in NORDUnet joined an (S,G) where the S is at NDSU the PIM 
joins would progress towards NSDU until they reached the router connecting 
NORDUnet and Hurricane at which point there would be an RPF failure and the 
join towards Hurricane would fail since there is no PIM session between 
NORDUnet and Hurricane.

  But for the same (S,G) join with BGP routes with multicast SAFI exchanged 
between NORDUnet and Internet2 the joins would progress building state from 
NORDUnet through Internet2 to the S at NDSU.
