I had this running on a Mac for the better part of yesterday with no 
problems. Actually, we had about 100 users over the last couple of days 
deliberately trying it out and it worked for all but 5 who had local 
firewall issues. The viewer works on Windows, Mac, and Linux with no 
advance installation but it takes about 15 seconds to load the viewer in 
memory.

It is a proprietary solution and not open source but Northwestern 
is getting everyone past that issue for the event.
