If it would help, I have some stats on the machine/environment for the latest SAP storm:

Machine:  Generic 1.8G P4, Intel 1000S nic (connected at 1G)
OS:  Fedora 6, 2.6.22.14 kernel with Web100
Compiler:  gcc/g++ 4.1.2
MiniSAP: 0.3.4
