Just a quick note to report that the Apple Leopard beta fixes the
multicast bug where OS X ignored the multicast group when the port
numbers were the same.

So you can open up multiple instances of a video player (Quicktime or
VLC) on different multicast groups which use the same port number and
watch or monitor different video sources.

Is there any indication whether Leopard has added IGMPv3 and/or MLDv2 support?

I had filed this with my SE as a feature request, and while he'd initially thought it would be in Leopard, the last time I asked (last fall) he told me it had been pushed back. It wasn't clear if it had been removed from the Leopard road map, or just hadn't made it into the current beta at the time.

I haven't checked the latest beta to see if things have moved forward from what he'd told me then. You sign an NDA to get on the beta, so I can't really talk about it even after I do check it... which is why I'm reporting what I was told, not what I might have tested on the earlier betas.

I may have to give in and install a linux partition in parallels to do IGMPv3 testing of switches.

Bill.
