We turned off the command years ago, when the first problems showed up. Have
never turned it back on, and have never missed it. I have always been in the
habit of troubleshooting multicast problems using specific sources and
groups. IMO, SAP itself is of only very limited use, and getting less useful
all the time.

It would be interesting to write a script to listen to SAP traffic and join
the announced groups to see which ones actually carry traffic; I'd guess
around half. And on top of that, the majority of 'interesting' multicast
traffic (from my perspective) is not announced by SAP. . .
