Rejects sometimes do cause problems... you should see the junk that
I get that the list doesn't!

The BCP list is for:
Model MSDP Configuration Between Autonomous Systems

in which case, yes SSM -should- indeed be
filtered.

But this thread is about "multicast boundaries"
not MSDP boundaries. and if folks ever
want reliable and useful multicast they
should do everything possible to get
SSM deployed.

In most cases this means nothing more than
deploying IGMPv3 in both the routers and
the hosts.

I'd also like to suggest that anyone
announcing a session -- no matter what
the group range -- include the
source attribute:

c=IN IP4 232.3.4.5/127
a=incl:IN IP4 232.3.4.5 192.168.9.10

Doing this will allow SSM capable applications to initiate a
join toward the source without having to also join the (*,G),
allowing one to avoid having to depend on MSDP.
