Hello;

At the MADDOGS meeting at the last IETF there were presentations on
multicast monitoring that included the portion of the address space that is
multicast routable (with MBGP). There was some discussion about the validity
of
the estimates produced, so it seemed of value to have an independent estimate
of the
same quantity.

We have now upgraded our multicast status page to include this information,
as seen in our MBGP tables, along with a fair amount of other new information
(number of "holes" in the MBGP routing tables, for example). As before, the
parallel
information on the unicast (BGP) Internet is included where appropriate. The
archived
mbgp/bgp logs were extracted to provide estimates back to the beginning of
April,
except for a brief period in June were the logs seem to be lost, and
various sanity
checks that have been evolved to catch problems were uniformly applied to the
old data.

Since the full msdp sa-cache is now archived, information is now also given
about such
quantities as the number of RP's in use, etc.

The newly updated status page is at
http://www.multicasttech.com/status/

there are now also 2 subsidiary pages providing more information for msdp
http://www.multicasttech.com/status/msdp.html

and for CIDR information at
http://www.multicasttech.com/status/cidr.html

All of these pages are dynamically updated every 6 hours.

Comments and questions are of course welcomed.
