Hello All;

Since yesterday evening we have been not able to get MSDP through
vBNS, which black-holes Abilene for us. There is no clear indication of the
cause of the
problem as yet, and I do not know if things are hosed in the other direction
as well.

Hello;

Sometime between
Tue May 8 16:55:20 EDT and
Tue May 8 21:10:13 EDT

we stopped getting MSDP SA's from them, and thus from Abilene. There seems to
be no
indication of problems on our end.

>From communications with Abilene (see below) we have determined that things
>seem OK to them,
so it seems likely that the problem is within vBNS.

There are no indications of RPF failures or other error states here. Can
someone please look into
this ?

204.147.128.141 is the MSDP peer for both us and Abilene, so this may be
where the problem is.

I remember something about that from last week. But it seems like there was
just some confusion between two separate problems. As I remember the email
said we were announcing routes to them with a next-hop of the STARTAP router.
This simply can't be ! Okay, it's not impossible, but highly unlikely. It's
more likely that we'd announce the next-hop of another interface on our
router.
But we're running the code with a fix for that bug...

In any case, we need to get the folks at vBNS to take a look at their router.

Marshall, have you contact them yet ?
